A Boogie wit da Hoodie’s new album, Hoodie SZN, has claimed the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. In the process, it set another record: the lowest-ever sales of an album the week it hit #1. Hoodie SZN moved 823 digital copies in the week ending January 10, according to a recent report by the New York Times (the record wasn’t released physically). It was 58,000 equivalent album units that carried the record to the top spot, “a number that incorporates streams and downloads of individual tracks, as well as sales of the full album,” as the Times have it. The album boasts 83 million streams.
The previous lowest-sales record was set by 21 Savage’s December 2018 album I Am > I Was, which only sold 3,481 units but racked up 84 million streams. Give Hoodie SZN a listen here.
